Introducing smarter searching in NVS Online
Guided by your feedback, we’re making it easier to find the right products on NVS Online.
You told us that finding products wasn’t always as quick or as straight forward as you’d like, so we’ve made a series of improvements to help provide you with greater confidence and choice at every step.
More product information, right where you need it.
We’ve expanded the information available in More Info for many pharmaceutical products, giving you greater clarity before you order.
You may now see, where relevant:
- Active ingredient(s)
- Official VMD product name*
- Species
- Pharmaceutical form (for example tablet, oral suspension, injection)
To support this, we’ve also added new search fields for Active Ingredient and Species, making it easier to locate exactly what you’re looking for.
*Official VMD product information may appear within some product descriptions to support product identification. These are shown for guidance only. Please ensure all product details are checked prior to ordering to confirm suitability for the intended animal and treatment.
Live shortage visibility, before you order
You can now see shortage information live in NVS Online.
This means:
- You see the same stock insight as our Customer Excellence team
- Out of stock products are clearly flagged
- Expected restock dates may be shown where available
This helps you make informed decisions before placing your order.
Supporting choice with alternatives
We’re also gradually introducing alternative product suggestions. These may appear even when products are still in stock, helping you:
- Explore suitable alternatives
- Compare options more easily
- Maintain continuity of supply if availability changes
Searching for SIC product & additional details
Did you know searching for an SIC on NVS Online is easier than ever? Simply search for (SIC) in the search bar (with the brackets) and see all of the SIC products we have available to order via NVS Online.
For Special Import Certificate products, we now also include where possible:
- Country of origin
- Manufacturer details
This information is available to support certificate applications and compliance requirements, giving you instant access to the same details our Customer Excellence team use, without the need to wait for confirmation.
Searching hints and tips to get more successful results include:

The main search field will now search for product codes, NVS description, VMD name, Active ingredient.

You can use commas in between each active ingredient to find all of them in one product.

You can use the main search field and Active search together.

You can use commas & part words – sometimes less is more and you can add letters / words to hone a search based on the results.

The order of words matters as always.
