Main purpose of the role
The Assistant Goods-In Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Goods-In Supervisor in leading operations for Goods-In and all Ground-Floor areas. Areas of responsibility include, Goods-In, Fridges, Bulk, VNA, CD’s, HAZ/ANA and unloading returning trailers. Key responsibilities include supervising daily activities to ensure smooth and efficient workflow. Driving performance to meet productivity and quality KPIs. Ensuring full compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Health & Safety regulations. Effectively utilising the Warehouse Management Systems to optimise operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of warehouse systems (particularly KiSoft and IFS)
Key Responsibilities
Process improvement & Efficiencies
- Identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements to increase throughput
- Ensure good practise is adopted and maintained so as to support the maintenance and improvement of standards, reducing the level of discrepancies or damages including customer returns and complaints
- Able to review and understand work instructions. Ensuring they are kept up to date
Systems & Data Management
- Maintain a good working knowledge of KiSoft & IFS
- Identify and use system data to monitor performance, maximise the Goods-In and Ground-Floor processes
- Support cross-training of Team Leaders and operatives within the Goods-In and Ground-Floor departments and ensuring development of team members
- Ensure accurate inventory movements and order tracking through system utilisation
Leadership
- To demonstrate and foster a leadership culture within the Warehouse to ensure the adoption of a ‘can do’ attitude by all reports
- Support the Goods-In Supervisor in leading and training Team Leaders in pursuit of operational targets and Company values
- Encourage and motivate staff to reduce turnover and maximise potential
- Provide encouragement to Team Leaders, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new/additional training within the management structure.
- Able and willing to challenge and confront operatives
- Able to be stand-in cover for the Goods-In Supervisor ensuring performance and quality are maintained
Administration
- Ensure all admin duties are completed accurately and to specific deadlines
- Support the Goods-In Supervisor in query resolution relating to order and stock issues for Goods-In and all Ground-Floor departments
- Ensuring investigations and informal discussions are thoroughly completed
Communication and Collaboration
- Liaise with suppliers, transport teams and internal departments (First Floor Replenishment, Noons shift, Buying, Stock Control & Validation)
- Conduct regular Team huddles with Team Leaders and operatives
- Act as a point of contact for all Goods-In & Ground-Floor operational queries during the day shift
- Listen to team members feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts through mediation or informal meetings
Health & Safety
- Always Ensure Health & Safety compliance
- Promote a safety-first culture and ensure all staff are trained and equipped appropriately
- Be aware of relevant risk assessments and Fire risk assessments
Other Duties
- Be familiar and aware of Standard Operating Procedures
- Report to the Goods-In Supervisor any matters that adversely affect the protection of the company’s stocks or premises
- Assist when required with other functions within the warehouse operation, including supervising other departments as and when requested
- Perform any other reasonable duties as the role and business dictates
- Support the Goods-In Supervisor

- Minimum 1 year experience working in an operational logistics environment
- Self-motivated and results focused/driven
- Attention to detail
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Able to work both on their own and in a team
- PC literate
Desirable
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Strong Oral and Written Skills
- Proficient knowledge of Health and Safety
- Mature, credible individual who can communicate at all levels within the organisation and gaining respect from their staff
- Proven employee training track record
- GCSE A – C or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
