Recycle if you can’t recharge your batteries

National Veterinary Services (NVS) is offering a new service to its customers thanks to a partnership with European Recycling Platform (ERP).

NVS customers will be able to order a Battery Recycling box for their practices – clients can then bring their used batteries and recycle them here. When full, NVS will collect and recycle the batteries with ERP.

A poll* revealed that more than half of respondents admitted throwing household batteries in the bin. The toxic contents mean that they can be hazardous to the environment if not disposed of properly.

Nick Pellington, Health & Safety Manager at NVS, said: “Recycling of batteries isn’t necessarily an issue that the wider public are aware of. There’s been a lot of publicity around plastic recently and the impact it can make on the wider environment but there is also an impact if batteries are not disposed of properly.

“Our customers will be able to order the recycle box as a free item, via NVS’ ordering systems. By partnering with ERP, we are making it easier to offer this service to our customers and thus, their clients, as another point of where they can recycle their batteries.”

For any NVS customers who take up this offer, when boxes are full, customers should contact NVS Customer Services team to arrange collection. Arrangements will be made for a replacement liner and the collection of the full box.
