Improve International Launches PgC in Dentistry and Oral Surgery
Veterinary CPD provider Improve International has launched a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Dentistry and Oral Surgery to help vets in first opinion practice to diagnose and treat the increasing number of patients suffering from dental or oral disease.
During the 14-module programme of lectures, case discussions and practical sessions, delegates will learn how to approach the dog, cat and exotic patient presenting with manifestations of oral pathology in a logical and scientific manner. Lecturers for the programme, which starts in January 2020, include respected dental and oral surgical experts, including Dr Bob Partridge and Dr Rachel Perry, both European and RCVS Specialists in Veterinary Dentistry and Dr Owen Davies, an RCVS Specialist in Veterinary Oncology.
Each module will be supported with an online learning management platform offering additional learning resources, together with a subscription to Harper Adam’s online e-library which gives access to thousands of scientific articles and abstracts for those progressing to a PgC. All delegates benefit from a dedicated Programme Tutor.
One of the world’s leading veterinary training companies, Improve International is celebrating its 21st anniversary during 2019. Founded by a team of UK vets, the company has trained more than 20,000 veterinary professionals in 20 countries around the world. In the delivery of its programmes, it works closely with its assessment partner, the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies (ESVPS), and with Harper Adams University, which provides the higher education body quality assurance.
Commenting on the new PgC, Mrs Juliet Pope, Operations Manager at Improve International, said: “The diagnosis and management of dental and oral disease is a significant – and growing – component of small animal practice. The programme we have developed offers a thorough case-based approach and includes the opportunity to practice oral surgery in a wet-lab environment. It will support general practitioners in taking a more well-informed clinical approach to the diagnosis and treatment of these cases and give them confidence to manage some cases that they might otherwise have felt they should refer.”
Part of Benchmark Plc and based in Swindon, Improve International provides high quality CPD in a range of formats for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses to help them to develop their skills and knowledge, using a combination of review lectures, case-based discussions and where, applicable, hands-on practical sessions.
