Disruption to product supply

Dear Colleague,

I am writing to inform you that over the next few months we are anticipating temporary interruptions in supply of certain Metacam® oral presentations, along with Pexion® and Semintra®. The disruption in supply for these products is likely to be significant for veterinary practices in the UK.

Covid-19 pandemic

This situation is unfortunately due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic at one of our manufacturing sites, which is located in a region of the world badly impacted by Covid-19. Due to the local Covid-19 situation, the implementation of additional safety measures at the manufacturing site has become critical. These measures have resulted in a considerable reduction of workforce and consequently, the output at our plant has been temporarily reduced, along with delays to the release of some products manufactured there. As a result, we anticipate that it will take a few months before we resume with normal supply levels.

We are working hard to restore supply

We sincerely apologise for this disruption but we hope you understand that this situation is beyond anyone’s control. Please know that we are actively and urgently pursuing all options available to achieve normalised supply, and Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health in the UK is working closely with our colleagues at the manufacturing site to understand the impact of these delays so we can continue to proactively communicate with our customers to give as clear a picture as possible.

We will support you in managing your cases

Animal health and welfare continues to be our key focus and we understand how important these products are for the animals under your care. I enclose information which outlines the proactive steps which we are asking your practice to take to help keep as many patients as possible in supply of Metacam®, and to secure supply of Pexion® for patients most in need. Please read the enclosed information carefully and share it with your colleagues. The information can also be accessed here:

If you wish to discuss a specific case please contact our Technical Services Team on 01344 746957 so that they can advise you further.

Once again, we sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and want to assure you that we are doing all we can to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

Yours faithfully

To keep you up to date with the current short term supply issues of Loxicom, Norbrook have provided us with the following update to share with you….

Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you that there is a short term supply issue with some presentations of Loxicom Oral Suspension. This is due, in part, to an issue with the supply of packaging components caused by the current Covid pandemic and an increase in global demand caused by a shortage of other meloxicam brands.

We are working hard to increase the production of Loxicom at our UK based manufacturing facility but do expect that there will be intermittent disruptions to supply over the coming months.

Please find a copy of the Loxicom Oral Suspension dose chart on page two. As you will notice, both the 0.5mg/ml 15ml bottle, 1.5mg/ml 100ml bottle and 1.5mg/ml 2 x100ml bottles can be useful alternatives whilst other bottle sizes are out of stock.

We can also supply Carprieve® (carprofen tablets) as an alternative non-steroidal indicated for analgesia and reduction of chronic inflammation, management of post-operative pain and osteoarthritis.

Wholesalers do not have any further information than is contained in this letter. Please be assured that orders will be fulfilled as soon as stock becomes available. If you have further queries, please email marketingGB@norbrook.co.uk.

We apologise for any inconvenience these temporary stock issue may cause and hope to resume normal supply shortly.

Yours faithfully,
Norbrook team
